by Rebecca Cassity

Established in 1994, Linux Journal is published monthly and includes important information about the Linux operating system and issues surrounding open source. Linux Journal informs its readers how they can get the most out of the powerful Linux operating system and features information for both home and business users.

"Our application for membership in the Audit Bureau of Circulations demonstrates our commitment to validating our circulation to our advertisers. ABC's high auditing standards and their history of excellence have made them the perfect choice for Linux Journal," commented Publisher Phil Hughes.

Michael J. Lavery, ABC's president and managing director, said, "Today's media marketplace is more competitive than ever before. In addition, advertisers are demanding increased accountability from the media they use. Publishers need every marketing edge to meet these challenges. We are pleased Linux Journal recognizes that ABC will assist in achieving the objectives of both publishers and advertisers. We welcome their application for membership."

With nearly 4,500 members, ABC is in its 86th year as the first and largest circulation-auditing organization in the world and maintains the world's foremost electronic database of audited circulation information. ABC offers reports and services in a variety of print and electronic formats, including CD-ROM and the World Wide Web (www.accessabc.com). In addition to auditing print, ABC's subsidiary, the Audit Bureau of Verification Services, Inc., audits interactive media, new media and trade show attendance, and demographic data.
