Gmail Goes IMAP
on October 24, 2007
The day has finally come: Google has heard the prayers of the people!
Google announced today that it is rolling out IMAP support for free for all Gmail users. While Gmail has long included POP access, the nagging problem has been the inability of the POP format to recognize changes across platforms (i.e., a change made in Thunderbird won't show up in the online version, or on a mobile device). With IMAP now available, you'll finally only need to take an action once.
According to Google, the feature is being rolled out in the “next few days” starting today. Expect to see in an account near you soon!
